Alex Tomkinson – Drums
Alex began teaching drums in 2013. He is experienced at teaching drummers of all levels of ability and from various musical backgrounds, including students with SENDS. He has taught from a range of graded syllabuses including Rock School and Trinity College London, and now endorses the popular Trinity Rock & Pop syllabus. In addition to working at Northwich Drum Studio, Alex also works as a peripatetic tutor in schools and plays the drums professionally. It is by drawing upon his real experience as drummer that Alex is able to pass on great levels of knowledge and inspiration to his students. Alex regularly receives highly positive feedback from both students and parents alike.
Alex has an enhanced certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for the role of ‘child workforce music teacher’, and has completed Safeguarding Young People Level 2 by Educare (renewed 04/10/2018). He also attained a degree in Popular Music and Recording from the University of Salford in 2009, is a MISM (member of the incorporated society of musicians), and is fully insured for public liability. All of Alex’s credentials can be checked at any time upon request, and up to date disclosures can be provided using the DBS update service.
Alex has a highly varied experience of performing music. From recording in studios with original bands, to rocking out with tribute acts to crowds of thousands, to taking part in regional brass band competitions. These days you will mostly find Alex manning the kit for talented UK guitarist Howie G.
